In this installment of “Dealer Check-in,” we touch base with the always candid Frank Gaspari, CEO of FlexPrint and Flex Technology Group (FTG) in Mesa, AZ. FlexPrint has a firm foundation in MPS and sells technology from an array of manufacturers, including Brother, Canon, HP, Konica Minolta, Lexmark, and Ricoh. FTG, founded in 2015 when FlexPrint was acquired by Oval Partners, is a privately held corporation with offices across the U.S. It has been growing exponentially since 2015. Let’s hear what Frank has to say about what’s been going on at Flex Technology Group this year.
CR: What was the highlight of 2019 for Flex Technology Group?
Gaspari: We grew our core business organically >6%, had a successful launch to our Professional Services initiative to our 15 companies, and several of our non-core MPS companies have leveraged FTG’s national MPS initiative and landed several enterprise clients. Additionally, we acquired over $90 million in new revenues from five new acquisitions in 2019.
CR: What segments of the business did particularly well in 2019?
Gaspari: MPS and Professional Services. We offer all FTG companies the opportunity to leverage FTG’s best resources/practices. In 2019 we saw several traditional copier companies with no previous MPS initiatives leverage FTG resources to land several enterprise MPS deals with legacy clients and net new clients. This speaks volumes to one of the many differentiators FTG offers versus the clutter.
CR: What’s happening in the industry that has you concerned?
Gaspari: Nothing. I’ve been hearing the same doom and gloom garbage I heard 30 years ago when I first started my business. The only difference now is these clueless people have social media as a forum to blast their nonsense.
CR: Do you think there’s still a decent amount of acquisition targets out there for Flex Technology Group?
Gaspari: Yes sir, more than ever. Our pipeline is significant and we are fortunate to have the luxury to be selective on who we want to join our world class initiative!
CR: What is your New Year’s resolution for 2020?
Gaspari: Same as every year: Last year is over, I’m over it and focused on reinventing myself, learning and doing absolutely whatever it takes to help this business and our talented employees go to the next level.
