Xerox Names Mike Pietrunti U.S. Dealer Partner Leader
I have known Mike Pietrunti since he joined Sharp in 1989 after leaving Monroe. He rose to the top at Sharp, leading the company’s dealer operations as group vice president, Copier & Network Solutions Group. He then spent nine years at Kyocera Document Solutions where he served as president & CEO. Looking to set himself up for an eventual retirement in Florida, he accepted a position with Global Imaging Systems as vice president of acquisitions.
On May 14, he called to let me know he had accepted a position as head of Xerox’s dealer sales operation. Pietrunti has gone full circle. He knows the game, works hard, and has the smarts to go with it.
He is not one an executive that shakes a lot of hands and drinks with the guys. Instead, he’s generally quiet and reserved. He also has a deep abiding faith and is a decent man.
Xerox made a smart move and found someone in XBS who had experience running a dealer operation. He did it for two companies””Sharp and Kyocera””and calling on dealers one more time should not be much of a challenge for him.
He has no illusions about what he is being asked to do. Mind the store and prevent any erosion in the Xerox dealer channel. He was quick to compliment Jim Morrissey, his predecessor by saying he had done an excellent job.
Following are excerpts from the announcement by Xerox President Mike Feldman that arrived shortly after my conversation with Pietrunti.
Mike Pietrunti has been named U.S. Dealer Partner leader. Mike is an established leader within the U.S. dealer channel where his experience spans over 30 years in multiple capacities. Mike is committed to continuing the expansion efforts around the dealer program, as well as delivering strong revenue growth from our existing partners.
In his most recent position, Mike led acquisitions and marketing for Xerox Business Solutions (XBS). During his tenure at XBS, he oversaw the acquisition of companies valued at approximately $400 million in addition to his senior field management and corporate marketing responsibilities.
I am excited about the experience and leadership Mike brings to the role.
