One of the ways I wind down in the evening after dinner is by watching YouTube videos on our TV in the living room. Mostly, it’s cooking videos (I’m a big fan of the test kitchen staff at Bon Appétit), travel videos (Rick Steves, Samantha Brown, Mark Wolters, James Blick), and music videos (Some of my favorites of late are Rolling Stone’s In My Room Series, Mary Chapin Carpenter’s Songs from Home Series, NPR’s Tiny Desk Concerts), anything by Postmodern Jukebox, and Sara Niemietz’s Sixty Second Sara videos to name just a very few. A few weeks ago, the actor John Krasinski (The Office, Jack Ryan) started a weekly program called SGN (Some Good News), which showcases how people are adapting to the current situation and celebrates those in local communities and around the world who are making a difference in big and small ways. It’s feel-good viewing and I defy you not to be moved by watching these 16-minute episodes.
The imaging industry has some good news of its own as I continue to hear how companies, dealers, and individuals are stepping up during this time. Allow me to share a few examples.
Yesterday we received a press release from the Managed Print Services Association (MPSA) announcing the launch of the COVID-19 Resource Hub. The hub was created by the MPSA COVID-19 taskforce as a collaborative and comprehensive set of resources to make it easier for dealers around the world to access information that can help them during the crisis.
I’ve also been impressed by the blogs and video chats coming out of GreatAmerica Financial Services Corp., including how to create your own 1:1 marketing video, How MSPs are Continuing Sales Activity During COVID-19 and a two-part series on MSP Sales, Marketing, and Prospecting with Care During COVID-19. Click here for Part 1. Click here for Part 2. Thank you GreatAmerica and Hannah O’Donnell, director of sales at Collabrance for bringing these blogs to my attention.
I also want to give a shout out to Andy Slawetsky of Industry Analysts for hosting the COVID-19 Imaging Industry Happy Hour Fundraisers on Friday evenings. From what I can see they’ve been well attended and support many worthy causes. I hope to see you at the next one.
Since the theme of The Cannata Report’s April issue is diversification, I was intrigued by the latest news from Pulse Technology that it has added hand sanitizer to its product offerings after partnering with a distillery that produces that product. It’s a brilliant move, especially since this is one of those products that no office, home, or individual will be without from here on out.
And just after I posted this story, I received a press release that Xerox will be manufacturing hospital-grade sanitizer in the U.S. and Canada for frontline healthcare workers. That’s even some more good news!
That’s just a small sampling of what I consider to be some good news from the imaging industry. From time to time, I’ll continue to share more in this ongoing column.
To end with a plug for The Cannata Report, keep an eye out for the dates of our own COVID-19 webinars featuring our Dealer Advisory Board.
Be safe and be well.
