Canon Marketing Japan, which oversees the sales of Canon products in the Japanese market, launched on June 19 an option service that materializes Active Directory Integration for its cloud-based integrated ID management service, ID Entrance, provided by its group company, Canon IT Solutions. Canon IT Solutions is responsible for the Canon Marketing Japan Group IT solutions business.
With the proliferation of IT network environments, it has become common to use multiple cloud services in office work. In offices, cloud shifts for various business systems, such as groupware, chat, ERP, SFA, contract management, quotation management, and accounting tasks, are steadily progressing. Consequently, it is necessary to set up multiple IDs/passwords for each cloud service so that users can use them safely, which is cumbersome and burdensome.
Canon ID Entrance
ID Entrance is a service that integrates and manages information such as IDs and passwords used to log in to various cloud services. With single sign-on (SSO) functionality, multiple applications and services can be used with a single ID/password. The service offers authentication/authorization functions equipped with multi-factor authentication and authentication policy features on the cloud, with over 50 verified cloud services.
With the provision of the Active Directory Integration option, selecting this integration allows linking user information from Active Directory to ID Entrance through LDAPS (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol over SSL), which protects communication by encryption and enables secure transmission and reception. As a result, creating accounts on the management portal of ID Entrance is no longer necessary. Additionally, with the SSO functionality, access to linked cloud services can be achieved with Active Directory authentication alone, eliminating the complexity of managing multiple IDs/passwords.
Canon IT Solutions’ Cloud Services Strategy
Canon IT Solutions plans to continuously expand the cloud services that can be integrated with ID Entrance to accommodate the expected increase in cloud services in the future. Moreover, by adding biometric authentication and ID provisioning functions, Canon IT Solutions aims to further reduce the burden of ID management tasks while enhancing security.
Canon IT Solutions offers the service SOLTAGE, which addresses all areas of IT infrastructure, including cloud integration services, network services, system operation/maintenance services, security services, and data center services. The company is committed to expanding its service lineup, focusing on cloud security, and enhancing its one-stop support system to address security measures and information leakage prevention for its customers.
As telework expands and office work shifts from paper to IT network environments utilizing cloud services, OEMs of digital MFPs for offices are also focusing on expanding IT solution services to strengthen relationships with customers.
