(In this new ongoing series, The Cannata Report’s Editor-in-Chief Scott Cullen does a quick check-in with a different dealer each week to find out what’s going on at their dealership, what’s hot, what’s not, and whatever else is on their mind.)
In our first installment of Dealer Check-In, we touch base with Jim Oricchio, president of Coordinated Business Systems in Burnsville, MN. Let’s hear what Jim has to say about what’s been going on at Coordinated this week.
CR: What’s new this week at Coordinated?
Oricchio: This week is the same as next week and we are trying to sell stuff down the street. This year our business is a little bit soft for a lot of reasons. Basically, it’s us, not the market, not the industry. So were addressing those things. [We’ve had] a little bit of turnover. We’ll end up the year a good year. It won’t be a great year, BUT it will be a good year.
CR: Tell me something good?
Oricchio: Our MNS and our telephony are growing at nice clips so we are satisfied with that.
CR: Anything happening in the industry that has you concerned or excited?
Oricchio: There’s talk of the [OEMs] raising prices because of the tariffs so I don’t think that will get me excited. I’m very excited about the industry and we are looking at acquisitions. The bottom line for Jim Oricchio, and first of all, I’m an eternal optimist, I feel strongly that there are a lot of new opportunities that we haven’t even entered into yet. There’s a good future for us independent dealers.
CR: Last question, what are your plans for the weekend?
Oricchio: Hopefully, I can take out a couple of my sports cars that are convertibles because the weather’s going to be nice. So, I’m going out looking for a speeding ticket. (Laughs.)
