(Editor’s note: In this ongoing series, The Cannata Report’s Editor-in-Chief Scott Cullen checks in with a different dealer each week to find out what’s going on at their dealership, what’s hot, what’s not, and whatever else is on their mind.)
In this installment of “Dealer Check-in,” we touch base with Dawn Abbuhl, president, Repeat Business Systems in Albany, New York. Let’s hear what Dawn has to say about what’s going on at Repeat Business Systems the week of Oct. 13-19.
CR: What’s happening at Repeat Business Systems this week?
Abbuhl: I’ve been at a CDA meeting where the hot topics were social media marketing, setting up a 501c3 since we do so much charitable giving, and IT services best practices. We’ve also been training our team on new Ricoh cloud applications and evaluating and refining our security protocols for MFP setups. This is especially significant for customers with sensitive data. And we’ve been onboarding a new technology consultant. We have been decorating our offices for Halloween and are finishing renovating our office after an expansion. We are also having a pink pumpkin decorating contest in honor of breast cancer awareness and Halloween. I just received a Women who Mean Business Award. Finally, our CTO is finishing the development of software to more closely manage our thousands of customers. Everyone is thriving!
CR: What segments of the business currently have you excited?
Abbuhl: We are excited about the new applications Ricoh has developed for workflow as they are well priced and powerful! We just purchased a new color production model that prints a red ink that is invisible until you shine a black light on it. It also prints onto foil and other unusual substrates, prints white on black paper, and has other amazing color features. We are excited about this incredible product. And we grew our traditional business quite a bit and are excited about that too!
CR: The Ricoh dealer meeting is next month, what are your expectations for that meeting?
Abbuhl: This meeting will have a panel for “Next Gen” which I am participating in. The panel will discuss issues for second- or third-generation owners or offspring that are transitioning into their organization and will become owners over time. Ricoh is providing a forum to provide assistance and support. Ricoh will also have content-rich information for dealer principals.
CR: What are your plans for the weekend?
Abbuhl: Flying back from CDA. I am a child psychologist on the side and have a limited practice and will see one family. I’ll also work out—yoga, dance, barre, boot camp. Yes, all in one weekend. I’m also making dinner for someone who is having a birthday, going to dinner at another friend’s house, buying a pumpkin, and bringing food to a friend who is donating a kidney. I like to be busy!
