In this episode of The Cannata Report’s What’s Hot & What’s Not, Chris Taylor, president & CEO of Fisher’s Technology in Boise, Idaho, reveals the business segments that are currently doing well for the dealership, and which segments he’d like to see do better. Be sure and read the CR-CONNECT Dealer Tour profile of Fisher’s Technology in our September issue.
CR: What’s hot?
Taylor: IT is the fastest growing division of the company. In 2020, we grew 10% over 2019, so we grew through COVID. The first quarter of this year, we were 36% ahead of 2020 in the IT services space.
CR: What’s not?
Taylor: Segment 1 and Segment 2 has taken a bigger hit than some of our production equipment from a segment standpoint. We never have been strong in wide format. I don’t know why. Our peers do a lot better than us, and we’ve got one of the fastest growing markets in the country for wide format. Architecture, construction, and engineering are huge here, so we should be stronger. I suspect it is the service culture that we can’t make as much money in the aftermarket with wide format, but I think that’s just a bias.
