After attending POA’s Annual Meeting, it was clear this leading office technology provider is giving the document imaging industry a lesson in developing a successful strategy for diversification.
POA President Doug Pitassi presented a complete breakdown of 2022 by every department or group within POA. We learned that IT Services was a key contributor to success in many of its 31 locations. When Pitassi referred to a particular branch that had not made its sales targets, he emphasized, “You have to improve your IT services to realize your goals.”
POA is committed to IT services as a business diversification strategy. The office tech dealer fully understands the battle against declining clicks must be won by focusing on a diversification strategy to drive new areas of growth like IT services, production print, telephony, and mail room services. Pitassi also spotlighted charging stations, another area of diversification new to POA’s product offerings. We hope our dealer subscribers are getting the message and begin their own efforts to diversify their respective businesses.
The POA branches are still expected to increase their click counts, but this is a company that wants to be very profitable. They know how to sell and are the leading independent dealer in the United States.
POA has not forgotten about acquisitions, but it recognizes that it is not the sole answer for making up lost clicks but a temporary expedient towards sales and profit in the short term.
Long-term growth is POA’s focus, and they are achieving success by implementing a business diversification strategy with impressive results.
