Impact Optimize2019, a one-day digital business summit, has announced the addition of infamous Canadian reformed hacker, Michael “MafiaBoy” Calce to this year’s event. HP, an Impact Optimize2019 Gold Sponsor, secured “MafiaBoy” to speak on the main stage at this year’s conference taking place on Thursday, August 8th, 2019 at Navy Pier.
Michael Calce is Canada’s most notorious White Hat hacker, a cyber-security expert, and the author of “˜How I Cracked the Internet and Why It’s Still Broken’. At the age of 15, Michael launched a series of high-profile denial-of-service attacks against large commercial websites, including eBay, Amazon, and E*Trade ““ it has been estimated that these attacks cost the organizations upwards of $1 billion dollars in lost revenue. According to a former CIA agent, the attacks by “MafiaBoy” can be credited to the significant increase in online security starting in 2000.
