Slate Group, based in Lubbock, Texas, plans to expand its impressive creative services offerings even further in 2023 with the installation of its third Komori press, a Lithrone G40 advance perfector (GL840P advance) with LED-UV curing system. The eight-color 40-inch press joins two Komori GL540 presses with coaters and LED-UV already successfully producing the much-in-demand, value-added marketing pieces Slate Group creates for a diverse range of clients. The company anticipates the GL840P advance will double its throughput with its ability to print two-sided print jobs up to two times faster, significantly shortening the turnaround for the high-quality pieces the company is known to produce.
Slate Group promotes itself as marketers who work through print and fosters a culture that lives up to that statement. The staff, from sales to production, is focused on bringing new ideas to customers that make marketing pieces stand out and enjoys introducing customers to the expansive creativity that is possible with print today. The addition of LED-UV to the GL840P advance will make it possible to turn jobs quickly with applications that come off the press completely cured. Additionally, the GL840P advance can handle substrates ranging from light text weights to 24-point board, making it possible to choose from an array of substrates depending on the requirements of the application.
“As we’ve continued to partner successfully with our customer base by looking at different ways to enhance their brands, it has really increased our amount of work, so we are excited that we will be able to double our capacity with this new press,” said Brad Phinny, COO, Slate Group. “Historically, we still consider ourselves specialists in short run, quick turnaround color, which is another reason we are adding the new press. We are seeing our print runs increase and we want to continue to deliver the quick turn times we’re known for and remain a market leader in that regard. We are all looking forward to the speed and significant productivity increases the Komori GL840P advance will deliver.”
Slate Group plans to install the new press in the second quarter of 2023.
