SCREEN Americas announced the installation of the Truepress JET 520HD+ to Print Bind Ship of Taylor, Michigan. The high-speed roll-fed digital inkjet press was installed in October 2023 and immediately assumed 60 percent of the company’s print production runs.
Established in 1959, Print Bind Ship is a full-service printing, mailing and fulfillment company specializing in book and catalog production. As a third-party logistics provider with service to six of the world’s seven continents, Print Bind Ship offers a unique e-commerce solution in the form of a book-on-demand program that allows publishing entrepreneurs the opportunity to limit their costs to the printing, binding and mailing portion of their books without having to pay Print Bind Ship a commission on the sale of the book.
Since the installation, Print Bind Ship has seen an 83 percent increase in its book publishing production capabilities. A 130-page book measuring 8.5 by 8.5 inches took only two hours to print 2,000 copies on the Truepress JET 520HD+ compared to at least 12 hours on a digital sheetfed device. This game-changing experience led Print Bind Ship to re-evaluate its business and make forthcoming arrangements to eventually eliminate its other digital press equipment.
With 75 employees and three facilities in Michigan, Print Bind Ship is making arrangements to run the Truepress JET 520HD+ 80 hours a week across two 10-hour shifts. It also expects to further expand its direct mail, transactional and commercial capabilities with the new technology. With SCREEN now serving as the primary press for all print jobs, Print Bind Ship estimates a 15 to 20 percent increase in revenue as early as 2024.
The company’s CEO, August Grebinski Senior, is extremely pleased with the Truepress JET 520HD+. “We tested samples on a number of different presses from other manufacturers and found that SCREEN’s quality was better than what we expected,” said Grebinski. “SCREEN’s technology also relieves us of our worries about labor issues in the industry. Not only is it a dependable press, it’s really easy to operate and train someone on. Overall, SCREEN offered the best return on investment.”
