Komori announced it will be highlighting its focus on meeting the needs of packaging printers at the Paperboard Packaging Council (PPC) Spring Outlook and Strategies Conference, April 17-19 in Dallas (Frisco), Texas. The event brings together leaders in the folding carton industry to discuss comprehensive strategies for growth and talent retention, while addressing the dynamic landscape of economic shifts and packaging policy. Approximately 80% of packaging tonnage in the United States, including folding cartons, blister cards and ridged boxes, are manufactured by members of the PPC.
Komori offers an entire series of presses engineered specifically for packaging. The company’s Lithrone GX/G advance presses are designed for increased speed, important to meeting the time to market so critical in the packaging market. With a maximum speed of 18,000 sph and the ability to print on a wide stock range, these presses are meant for quality paperboard applications needing high productivity and the lowest waste possible.
The GLX40/44RP advance is another powerful press series that meets the demands of a new generation of package printers by enabling dedicated two-sided printing without the use of a traditional, convertible perfecting unit. It dramatically reduces production time, increases the printable area of the sheet, improves register quality and improves efficiency while never having to flip the sheet, making sustainability profitable for printers. The presses deliver high speed, one-pass, two-sided printing with great stability, making it possible to print on commercial grade papers, board stock and synthetic substrates ranging from 40# to 20 pt. or 8 pt. to 32 pt., depending on configuration. This makes producing an extremely wide range of two-sided products possible.
The GLX advance series presses all come with Komori’s advanced automation software and hardware. Full camera inspection systems, automatic plate changing, automated color control, Komori’s Smart Sequence and Smart Feedback AI automation are all available to reduce makeready and assure a high-quality final product.
Additionally, American Carton Company in Mansfield, Texas is hosting an exclusive tour of their plant on Friday, April 19. PPC Spring Conference attendees will get the opportunity to see one of Komori’s GLX 40 straight presses in a live production environment. The press is configured as a six-color straight press with coater and has the ability to use both traditional and UV-based inks.
“Komori is excited to show PPC attendees a GLX40 Komori press with both conventional UV and UV-LED in action running American Carton’s packaging products,” said Lance Martin, vice president, marketing, Komori America. “American Carton has been operating Komori presses for more than two decades and is nationally recognized for tackling packaging challenges with innovative solutions that deliver a competitive advantage for their customers. The tour promises to be a great experience for those who attend.”
