The Gordon Flesch Company has announced the promotion of Kelly Dolphin to chief financial officer. With the retirement of long-time CFO Keith Breunig, Dolphin will bring years of experience and proven capabilities to help lead GFC into the future.
Keith Breunig joined Gordon Flesch Company as an accountant in 1984, rising to become Chief Financial Officer and helping GFC to grow steadily and responsibly through organic growth and prudent acquisitions. During his tenure, Keith and his team have managed the acquisition of more than 20 companies and GFC has become one of the largest and most financially sound office technology dealers in the country, with 34 offices around the Midwest.
In addition, Keith has put an excellent team in place, ensuring the company will be in good hands as he retires, effective October, 1. That team will be led by Kelly Dolphin, who joined GFC in 2014 as Controller, bringing extensive experience in financial and system audits, tax, financial reporting and analysis.
Kelly was recently named as a member of the 40 under 40 class of 2020 by Madison’s In Business Magazine, which recognizes the most successful and civic-minded young professionals under the age of 40 in the Greater Madison area. During Kelly’s tenure she has become instrumental in evaluating workflows, acquisitions, finances, banking, systems, purchasing and vendor relations.
“When I started at GFC, Mr. Gordon Flesch told me that I would be among friends forever, and he was right. There is both sadness and excitement as I leave a company and people that have made my life better. I am blessed to have had this opportunity to grow professionally, to be mentored by industry leaders, and to have made so many friends. We have an excellent team in place,” says Keith Breunig, outgoing CFO at GFC. “Kelly Dolphin has been instrumental in providing strong financial guidance and helping GFC successfully launched many new initiatives. She performed exceptionally as GFC’s Controller, Director of Finance and Vice President and GFC will continue to benefit and grow with Kelly’s enthusiasm and leadership.”
In recent months, GFC became an authorized Ricoh dealer, acquired Jim Gordon Inc, a major dealer in southern Indiana, Indiana Business Equipment, a leading Canon dealer in western Indiana and Advanced Systems, Inc., a prominent Canon dealer with offices in Iowa, Minnesota and South Dakota. In addition, GFC acquired Managed Service Provider Information Technology Professionals and relaunched the company’s Managed IT division as Elevity. Despite all this activity and ongoing economic uncertainty, GFC’s financial team has kept the company stable and growing. In addition, Kelly has also helped GFC grow with efforts to streamline and improve backend services that have a positive impact on the customer experience.
“The GFC family is sad to lose Keith’s steady hand, leadership and easy-going personality. Under his guidance, we have experienced an intense period of growth and transformation, driven in large part by acquisitions. Keith is a big reason why we have been able to manage this growth so well,” says Thomas Flesch, CEO of the Gordon Flesch Company. “The good news is that Keith can seamlessly hand off that role to Kelly Dolphin. We are confident that Kelly’s experience, knowledge and skill will help GFC continue to grow and successfully navigate any challenges we may face.”
In addition, GFC is pleased to announce Travis Lemke will assume the role of Controller after helping to evaluate and manage the financial integration of recent acquisitions. Kim Castle will become Manager of Business Process Optimization, helping to provide financial analysis and lead the design and implementation of workflow solutions.
