Crawford Technologies has established a partnership with D2L. Crawford Technologies has announced its new AccessibilityNow® DocMD for LMS that integrates with D2L’s innovative, mobile-friendly learning platform, D2L Brightspace. The partnership strengthens a D2L Brightspace customer’s ability to deliver fully accessible and compliant course content and other online learning resources created in Microsoft Word files or PDFs, directly from D2L Brightspace.
Most organizations begin the digital accessibility journey by making their websites and the documents hosted on their websites accessible. The documents in their learning management systems (LMS) are often overlooked, leaving organizations exposed to ADA-related litigation. This also leaves students with disabilities at a disadvantage in their learning journey. Taking the time to locate these documents and determining if they are accessible can be an overwhelming task, let alone finding a way to remediate them into accessible documents.
The combined solution of D2L Brightspace, a robust LMS, and AccessibilityNow DocMD for LMS, a quick, straightforward and effortless process for scanning, testing and fixing documents in courses, makes it possible to deliver accessible learning while overcoming the challenges related to litigation risks and fees. Additionally, the time and expense associated with the remediation of hosted documents is greatly reduced with the use of AccessibilityNow DocMD for LMS.
The integration of AccessibilityNow DocMD for LMS with the D2L Brightspace platform ensures accessibility compliance with the ability to automatically validate documents against Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and PDF/UA standards that define a set of requirements to ensure that a PDF is compatible with assistive technology. Additionally, the solution’s advanced features make it possible for users to replace non-compliant files easily and efficiently with fully remediated versions, delivering seamless accessibility within the Brightspace environment.
“In an age where training and education programs are increasingly delivered in a digital environment, we are excited to partner with the market leading company committed to providing a learning experience that meets the needs of all people, regardless of ability,” said Ernie Crawford, president and CEO of Crawford Technologies. “By integrating AccessibilityNow DocMD for LMS into the D2L Brightspace platform, instructors will be able to remove the vulnerability of non-compliance with the ability to accurately and automatically assess document accessibility needs and easily remediate those that are non-compliant.”
“At D2L, we are committed to creating inclusive and accessible learning environments for all. Partnering with Crawford Technologies enhances educators’ ability to deliver compliant and accessible course content seamlessly within D2L Brightspace. Instructors can focus on teaching and their learners, knowing that their materials meet the highest accessibility standards,” said Ken Chapman, VP of partnerships at D2L.
