The National Conservation Foundation (NCF) announced that Canon U.S.A., Inc. has joined as a gold sponsor of the 2024 NCF Envirothon Competition. The international competition features high school students competing in teams to demonstrate their environmental knowledge and problem-solving skills.
“Canon U.S.A. is focused on contributing to the prosperity of the world, and we take pride in supporting this year’s NCF Envirothon competition as part of our continuous efforts to invest in the future of our environment through education,” said Shinya Fukuda, vice president and general manager, Corporate Planning & Corporate Communications Divisions at Canon U.S.A., Inc. “The NCF does incredible work to raise awareness of environmental issues and cultivates ways for communities to contribute. This competition offers an excellent opportunity for students to showcase their creativity, imagination, and interests in building a more sustainable future. We thank the NCF for organizing such an inspiring event.”
During this year’s competition, students will focus on the current issue of Renewable Energy for a Sustainable Future. They will learn about the different sources of renewable energy, the challenges of transitioning from traditional fossil fuels to renewables, the environmental, economic, and social impacts of energy consumption, and how individuals can affect change in their communities.
Students will demonstrate their knowledge of this year’s current issue topic, soils and land use, aquatic ecology, forestry, and wildlife management, through written tests and prepared oral presentations. This year’s competition will bring together 50 teams of high school students from across the U.S., Canada, China and Singapore.
“The NCF-Envirothon team wants to thank Canon U.S.A., Inc. for supporting NCF and our worthy cause. Canon’s sponsorship of the NCF-Envirothon helps support the 50,000 high school students who participate annually,” said Jeremy Peters of the NCF.
