Late last week, we learned that Jennifer Hagman, U.S. Bank’s North Central regional sales manager, passed away from cancer on May 22. Hagman spent her entire 29-year career working for U.S. Bank. Her clients included Marco, Loffler, Metro Sales, Coordinated Business Systems, AIS, and DTS. According to U.S. Bank’s Phil Buysse, her clients “loved her.”
Excerpts from Jennifer Hagman’s Obituary:
Jennifer Hagman was born in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, on February 1, 1973, to Frank and Linda Hesby. She lived in Frazee, Minnesota, throughout her childhood and graduated from Frazee High School. She then attended Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota, where she obtained her Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting. She worked at US Bank for nearly 30 years as a regional sales manager, and she absolutely loved her job and the people she met throughout her career.
Jennifer married the love of her life, Jeff, in August 1996. After six years of marriage, they welcomed their first child, Jessica, in 2002. In 2004, their second child, Jacob, completed their family.
Jennifer was extremely involved in the community, and it was one of her greatest passions. She was involved in her children’s sporting organizations and never missed any of Jessica or Jacob’s sporting events. Jennifer made many friendships through her community involvement and touched the lives of many. She enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, watching the Vikings, and being an active member of First Lutheran Church. Jennifer also ensured she never missed an episode of Survivor or Wheel of Fortune.
Jennifer will be remembered for her selflessness and dedication to those around her. Jennifer was consistently optimistic throughout her life and in this battle.
A Celebration of Jennifer’s Life will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at First Lutheran Church, 218 County Rd K, New Richmond, Wisconsin, and streamed live. Visitation will also be on Saturday, June 1, 2024, from 1-3 p.m. at the church. To read the complete obituary click here.
Thanks to US Bank’s Phil Buysse, we are able to share comments from some of Jennifer’s clients and close friends in the office technology industry.
Marco’s Steve Gau
On May 17, the Friday before Jennifer passed away, I received a phone call letting me know that her health had taken a turn for the worse, and she had entered hospice care. I was with my daughter Anna when I got that call, and after I hung up the phone Anna asked me “Who is Jennifer?” I told her “Jennifer is someone I’ve known for about 25 years who I never once heard say a negative thing about another person or situation. I told her if everyone was like Jennifer, the world would be a happier, kinder, and better place.”
That’s a totally true statement. I absolutely cannot recall a single instance when Jennifer had a bad thing to say about a person or situation. She was a consummate professional.
Having spent 25 years at Marco, Jennifer was pretty much a part of my entire career. I joined Marco in 1997, and it must’ve been around that time she started working with us representing U.S. Bank or BCL Capital as it was known at that time. When I retired at the end of 2021, Jennifer was still the rep from U.S. Bank handling Marco’s account.
Above: Steve Gau (fourth from left) and his fellow competitors in the Twin Cities display their unified support, including a significant financial donation for Jennifer Hagman and her family.
The last official duty I took part in before retiring was a joint effort among the major copier competitors in the Twin Cities, where we gathered together for a photo and to jointly make a significant donation to the Hagman family to show our unified support to Jennifer and what she meant to all of our organizations. Everyday Metro Sales, Coordinated Business Systems, Advanced Imaging Solutions, Loffler, and Marco battled hard to beat each other to earn business in the market, but on this day and at this time, we gathered together to show Jennifer that we would battle together for her in her fight against cancer.
When Jennifer shared her diagnosis with me in late 2021, it never crossed my mind she wouldn’t win this ruthless battle so many people in this world have to embark on. Even though millions lose their personal battles with cancer every year I 100% believed from the onset Jennifer would absolutely win her fight against cancer.
I believed that because that’s what Jennifer portrayed to me and likely to everyone else she communicated with. It’s who she was, always positive, always seeing the best in every situation confronted with. Even when the fight got harder and more complicated as the calendar flipped to 2024, she maintained her positive demeanor and amazing spirit. I wish our prayers would’ve been answered and Jennifer’s positive demeanor and amazing spirit would be here on earth with us for decades to come.
I’ll never delete Jennifer’s text messages. I’ll save them as a reminder of the attitude I want to have when confronted with adversity. I’ll reread them to remind myself that if we were all like Jennifer, the world would be a happier, kinder, and better place.
Jennifer deserved to win her battle against cancer!

I have known Jennifer and Jeff roughly 25 years. What an amazing person and couple. I am very sorry for your loss. I really don’t think I ever saw her without some version of a smile on her face😊
Jaime and I are praying for the family.
Kirk Studebaker, President, Coordinated Business Systems
If there was ever a human being who deserved tribute it is Jennifer. Thank you for recognizing her greatness.
I have had the honor to know Jennifer Hagman for many years, to work with her in many capacities and to call her my friend. I was first introduced to her by the Stringers when I was a rep for Panasonic and USB was BCL Capital. I took her to my dealers throughout the Midwest and she taught them how to lease. Just shy of two years ago we bought one of those companies, and they were still a US Bank Customer set up from that relationship 20+ years ago.
Jennifer Hagman was a rarity. Hardworking, Honest and Dependable. It is unheard of to have the confidence in a vendor to just “let them handle it” with a customer issue. With Jennifer it was not an issue. We spend so much time talking about technology and automation. The key to our business (and our lives for that matter) is people. Jennifer was a person that I trusted. Completely. We had an unsurpassed professional relationship because I knew that I could always depend on her and we were always 100% transparent with each other regardless of the topic or the situation. We had a great personal relationship because she was a great human being. I will miss her.
Thank you, Jennifer, for your support, friendship, and all that you taught me. I am honored to have known you. Your courage throughout your battle with cancer will inspire me forever. Rest In Peace.
Brian Titulaer, Vice President, Wisconsin Document Imaging
This news is so sad. I was so convinced she was going to beat this since she kept such a positive attitude throughout the entire battle. I will most certainly let the rest of our team that worked with her know of this unfortunate news. Her USB shoes will be very difficult to fill. She was an amazing partner for us to work with.
Jake Woessner, Leasing Team Lead, Metro Sales
Metro and I are deeply saddened by the news of Jennifer’s passing. Jennifer has had a huge impact on not only the success of our relationship but also our day-to-day lives. She was an amazing person and an even better friend, always positive and bringing smiles to people’s faces even in the toughest of times. It has been an honor to be able to work with Jennifer, and something that we will always remember and be grateful for.
