Shore Business Solutions a leading service provider in the office automation industry announced it has been ranked 5th in the state of New Jersey for small businesses by NJ BIZ.
“It is beyond words,” says George A. Krebs president and partner. “Sitting at the awards ceremony the other evening waiting to find out our ranking in the top 40 was nerve-wracking to say the least. To find out we ranked 5th in the state was by far the proudest moment in my career at Shore, second only to the day we opened the doors back in 1980.”
Shore Business Solutions is a 23-employee organization today, serving the entire state of New Jersey for customers in need of best-in-class office solutions including printers, scanners, multi[1]functional devices, IT and Managed Services, VoIP phone systems, Smart Board technology, laptops and more. Nearly doubling the size of their organization since 2019, this 41-year-old technology company has experienced newfound growth and energy during what most would consider uncertain business times. Their continued success can be attributed to the passion and resilience of the team at Shore.
“We are only as strong as the people on our team,” says Chris Wolowitz vice president and partner. “When we decided to participate in this survey, the motivation was primarily to see how our team thought we were doing. 2020, and now 2021, wasn’t the easiest to navigate from a business and personnel perspective. We made some tough decisions in the last 18 months, all for the better of the team and the company. Keeping everyone employed full-time, and even adding headcount, was a big part of it. We had momentum going and we wanted to continue the path we were carving for ourselves. Those decisions were validated through the outcome of this survey.”
Throughout the last 18 months Shore Business Solutions has taken a hard look at all aspects of their business, seeking out ways to be more productive, efficient and serve their customers better. A complete overhaul of policies and procedures from PTO and benefits to retirement plans and work from home policies was needed, explained Wolowitz and Krebs.
“We enhanced our employee benefits, added in company perks, and even instituted VTO days (volunteer time off) for individuals and groups,” added Wolowitz. “No area of the business went without analysis, and we welcomed ideas from every team member.”
The hard work paid off. In its inaugural year participating in the NJ BIZ Best Places to Work survey, Shore Business Solutions ranked 5th overall out of 40 businesses recognized in the small business category, classified as companies from 15-49 employees. “We are thrilled to be recognized in such an elite group of employers across the state, some of whom are our long-standing partners, Sharp Electronics (Enterprise Category), and customers since our doors opened,” continues Wolowitz.
“But we are most proud of our team, without them none of this would be possible.”
