Ricoh USA’s direct operation in Duluth, Georgia is presenting its fourth annual Puttin’ on the Pink golf tournament, supporting Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, on Sept. 18, 2019. The event takes place at the Hamilton Mill Golf Course in Dacula, Georgia, with proceeds benefitting the American Cancer Society (ACS).
Bruce Nelson, director of customer support services, at Ricoh’s support operation in Tucker, Georgia, was drawn to this cause because his wife is a two-time breast cancer survivor and he lost his mother to breast cancer. His two sisters are currently battling the disease.
“This is truly a special event for Ricoh and for the American Cancer Society,” said Nelson. “We are in our fourth year and it is a unique tournament experience in that we have so many great partners involved.”
The event includes a $100,000 cash shootout where four lucky golfers will have an opportunity to win $100,000. The winner of the 150-yard shot on hole 18 will split the cash prize with the American Cancer Society. There will also be an opportunity to meet Maurice Allen, the world’s long-distance driving champion.
Sponsors and partners offer special perks at each hole while the participants are waiting with BBQ and wings, ice cream, and massage chairs ensuring it is a fun and interactive day.
“But most importantly, is the cause,” added Nelson. “This tournament supports research and support to fight breast cancer. Our goal is to ensure no one has to face cancer alone,” said Nelson.
Among the sponsors of the event are many who are familiar with readers of The Cannata Report, including CompTIA, ESP/Ametek, CIT, DLL, Hytec Dealer Services, US Bank, and Wells Fargo.
Proceeds also help support The American Cancer Society Hope Lodge program which provides a free home away from home for cancer patients and their caregivers.
Nelson’s is also a co-chair for a campaign called “Real Men Wear Pink” for ACS in Atlanta. This is a group of men who commit to wearing pink every day during the month of October to help raise awareness and funds for ACS.
“I had the honor to be a Real Man last year, and this year helped in recruiting and assisting 28 great business leaders in their efforts,” said Nelson. “It is one of the most rewarding experiences you can imagine.”
The event begins at 8 a.m. with breakfast until 10 a.m. followed by golf from 10-3:30 p.m. and awards and dinner from 4-6 p.m.
Those interested in participating can register here. There is also an option to support the cause on the ACS website. For a $25 donation, Ricoh will place personal signage on golf carts in honor of a loved one who has beaten cancer, or to memorialize those who have lost the fight.
