The Cannata Report bids a fond farewell to a music legend and one of the stars of our 35th Anniversary Awards & Charities Gala.
We were saddened to read this morning that Mary Wilson, one of the original Supremes has passed away. As those of you who attended our virtual 35th Anniversary Awards & Charities Gala may remember, Mary was one of the celebrity guests wishing our award winners and supporters of our charity well that evening.
She was 76, and according to her obituary in The New York Times, no cause of death was given. Ironically, this is the 60th anniversary of the first recording released by The Supremes. Sadly, in a January 2020 interview in Billboard she discussed the possibility of The Supremes reuniting for a 60th anniversary reunion performance and possible tour.
We at The Cannata Report will forever be grateful to Mary Wilson for being part of last November’s event and will never forget her singing “Stop in the Name of Love” during our virtual celebration.
R.I.P. Mary Wilson.
Someday we’ll be together.
