ECI Software Solutions has awarded Adam and Melinda Hendrix of Chic Lumber $10,000 as the first place winners of the 2019 Everyday Hero Award for their work to combat heroin addiction. The two created a nonprofit named Justin Delivers Hope (JDH)—named after their late son—to support families who are victims of the devastating drug addiction, and also raised more than $35,000 for their local police department to employ and train a K9 dog and officer dedicated to removing drugs from their local community. The $10,000 prize will be donated to JDH.
Now in its fifth year, the Everyday Hero Award program was created to honor ECI customers—both individuals and companies—who consistently go above and beyond to make a difference in their communities. Nominations are submitted by ECI employees, customers and partners and evaluated by an independent panel of judges. This year, ECI received more than 70 nominations, which the judges reviewed and narrowed down to three finalists: the Hendrixes, Cyndee Timmerman of Alva-Amco Pharmacal Companies and Shawn Miller of Requarth Lumber Co. Miller, the second runner-up, received $3,000 for his charity, while Timmerman, the first runner-up, received $5,000 for hers.
“One of ECI’s core values is ‘embrace community’, which makes recognizing the philanthropic efforts of our customers each year even more meaningful,” said Trevor Gruenewald, ECI president and COO. “Our team was both in awe of and inspired by this year’s nominees—especially our three finalists—and are so grateful for the incredible work they’re doing to generate positive change in their communities.”
Nominations for the 2020 Everyday Hero Awards will open in the Spring. Finalists will be recognized at the company’s biennial user conference, Connect, which will take place November 16-18, 2020 at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas Hotel & Resort. The event—which last year drew a record-breaking 1,000 attendees from around the globe—will allow ECI users and partners to discuss best practices for leveraging ECI’s suite of solutions and hear from industry experts about the trends that will influence their markets in the year ahead.
