The company takes its commercial product lines, including document scanners, along with its standalone scanning message on the road.

More than 90 customers attended the Atlanta Road Show, which featured products from a variety of the company’s divisions, including the scanner division.
Panasonic Systems Solutions Company of North America sure knows how to host a technology road show. We were fortunate to receive an invitation, courtesy of Panasonic’s scanner division, for the last of five road shows on November 1 at Atlanta’s SunTrust Park, home of Major League Baseball’s Atlanta Braves.
The five road shows held in five locations around the country (Atlanta; Syracuse, New York.; Indianapolis, Indiana; San Antonio, Texas; and Huntington Beach, California) allowed Panasonic to showcase an array of technology. Besides scanners, there were telephone systems, AV equipment, ToughBooks computers, and security systems. The latter seemed to be a big draw for the law enforcement and security professionals who attended the event.
Most attendees were current Panasonic customers, and according to Chelsea Dunshee, ISV business development manager, document scanners, more than 90 customers had signed up in advance for the Atlanta road show. When we arrived at the ballpark just before noon, the morning rush had subsided and the noontime rush was beginning.
Unlike other manufacturers’ road shows we’ve attended, there were no formal presentations. Instead, this event had more of a casual, low-key vibe with customers dropping in any time, even though they were encouraged to sign up in advance for a specific time. The event featured ongoing product demonstrations and offered attendees an opportunity to touch and feel the products, as well as a chance to win a prize during the many raffles held throughout the day and enjoy breakfast or lunch. The suites, overlooking centerfield, were the perfect size for a tabletop show and allowed for learning, socializing, and if customers were so inclined, placing orders. The event also introduced customers who were users of one Panasonic technology to other technology from the company.
The scanner table was a popular customer destination with two models on display, the KV-S8127 high-volume production scanner and the KV-N1058X network document scanner. Dunshee and Candice McGory, technical field manager for Panasonic’s document and imaging group, were busy with demos and answering customer questions for most of the time we were there. Fred Scherman, Panasonic’s national sales manager, document scanners, was also on hand to answer customers’ questions.
This event was another opportunity for Panasonic’s scanner division to tout its scanner message. When it comes to high volume scanning, there’s no substitute for a standalone scanner designed to handle high volumes as opposed to using the scanning function on an MFP, which is not designed to handle high scanning volumes. That’s a message we’ve heard often from Panasonic Product Manager Joe Odore and we suspect we will continue to hear this as Panasonic looks to raise awareness in the dealer channel of its scanner line.

Although dates have not yet been confirmed, Scherman revealed additional road shows are planned for 2019. For dealers still on the fence about the necessity for standalone scanners, a trip to a Panasonic road show offers a valuable educational experience.
