Looking Ahead to Next Year’s Survey
That sound you hear is a collective sigh of relief from the team at The Cannata Report now that we’ve completed Part II of our 33rd Annual Dealer Survey.
The Survey process begins early in the year as we look to evaluate and fine-tune questions. Once the Survey is released to dealers in May, we work diligently to encourage dealers to respond. By the time July rolls around, we hit the numbers hard, organizing results and analyzing the data. With this year’s Survey finished, we’ve already begun thinking ahead to next year.
And, this is where you, our readers, come into play. We’d like to enlist your help to enhance next year’s Survey.
Being firmly ensconced in an ever-changing industry, your valuable input ensures future Surveys reflect the changes we are experiencing. For example, in Part I in our October issue, when examining future opportunities, security and cybersecurity appeared for the first time. We expect those emerging opportunities to become even more prominent going forward as dealers look to meet their customers’ security demands and dealers determine how to monetize the security solutions they are providing. In Part II, when examining dealer concerns, tightening hardware margins and declining service rates bubbled up under the response for “other” concerns. Upon further reflection, we recognize these trends to be pressing concerns, albeit not new ones, and we believe that these items are necessary additions to the list of concerns for dealers to select from in future Surveys.
As always, we are open to any suggestions you may have, but particularly new or different segments of the industry related to your business we should be tracking or segments of the survey, we might want to do away with or update, to provide more pertinent information. Our Survey must continue to evolve with the times and your feedback and continued participation remains extremely valuable to us.
